Using Easy Lack® Double
Plate Substitute
Instructions
- Cut to Size
Cut a piece of Easy LackŪ Double to the size of the blanket to be replaced.
- Clean Cylinder
Wipe the cylinder surface with film cleaner or alcohol to remove any residue.
- Prepare Easy LackŪ Double Surface
Using water and a cleaning agent, (i.e. Ajax, Comet etc.), scrub the surface of the Easy
LackŪ Double. This removes any scratches and makes the surface porous allowing a heavier
film of coating to be applied.
- Remove Uncoated Areas
Remove the areas that are not to be coated by either striking an image on the Easy LackŪ
Double or by underlying a negative or rubylith cutout of the pattern on a light table.
- Remove Easy LackŪ Double Top Layer
Make the necessary cuts in the pattern being careful to cut through the top (blue layer only).
Remove the top layer from the non-coating areas.
- Mount On Press
Mount the Easy LackŪ Double as you would a blanket using another blanket as packing
along with the necessary packing sheets. The under blanket should be cut short and
mounted in the front blanket bar only. Using a blanket as part of the packing arrangement
is crucial because it provides a cushion to the firm surface of the Easy LackŪ Double.
- Minimum Cylinder Pressure
Keep the impression cylinder to the blanket cylinder pressure at a minimum. It is imperative the coating unit be parallel to the impression and blanket cylinder.
- Minimum Cylinder Pressure
When storing the plate after use, the following procedures should be followed:
> To clean after aqueous coating use ammonia and water.
> When varnish or UV coatings
are used, a slightly dampened rag with solvent should be used.
Be careful not to let solvent attack the adhesive on Easy LackŪ
Double.
> Cover plate with paper and keep away from ambient light until used again.
> Be sure to store the unused Easy
LackŪ Double in its original package.
> Store all Easy LackŪ Double away from heat
and direct light.
